The goal in Egyptian mines is to reveal as many red gems as possible without triggering any traps beneath a 4x4 grid of tiles. The more gems you uncover, the bigger your win multiplier grows. With each new gem revealed you either cash out or risk picking another tile. Either you find a gem and you win more, or you find a trap and lose it all. Here’s a more in depth guide to play:

Step 1: Set your bet amount

Bets can be placed anywhere from $0.50 to $250. You can change the size of your bet by clicking / tapping the “+” and “-” symbols next to the bet value at the bottom of the game page, or open the bet size picker by clicking / tapping on the bet value itself. Here you can pick from any of the pre-defined bet sizes.

Step 2: Select the number of Traps

You have the option to change how many traps are hidden under the 4x4 grid. You can choose from either 1,2 or 3. More traps will create a more difficult but more rewarding game. See the paytable information below to see the progression of wins for each. 

Step 3: Press start and reveal tiles

Once you press start your bet is locked in and you can begin clicking / tapping on tiles to reveal what’s hidden beneath. Every time you click a tile one of two events can happen:

• Red Gem revealed - You found a winning tile! Your win multiplier has increased and you can cash out if you want
• Trap revealed - You lost the round. Your bet is gone and you must start again with a new bet.

When you find a gem, it's possible that you also reveal a special symbol. Special symbols will start collecting at the top of the page on a bingo grid. If you connect a line of 3 symbols on the bingo grid you unlock a boosted win multiplier. The bingo grid resets each round.

The game continues in this pattern until you either cash out, or find all the winning tiles and claim the maximum win based on the amount of traps you selected, and how many bingo board symbols you collected.

• Volatility Control: By choosing either 1,2 or 3 traps to hide under the grid, you control the volatility of the game. The fewer traps, the lower the win progression and the easier the game. The more traps, the faster your win progression but there’s a higher chance you’ll trigger a trap and lose.

To claim the max win of 520x, you must play with 3 traps and collect all symbols when revealing all gems
• Auto play: Use Auto Play to pre-select which tiles you want to reveal, along with the number of rounds you want to play. Once confirmed, you can sit back and enjoy watching the game play out by itself in front of you without needing to press any more buttons. You can cancel the autoplay at any time.
• Bet History: View your historical bet information to validate previous results. Click or tap any result to open a more detailed view with higher level information stored by the provider.

Egyptian Mines is a great idea, and a clever blend of classic mines mechanics and the well known bingo formula of connecting symbols / numbers in a row.

When we first played this game, we were impressed. The graphics are clean, the animations are lively and pop. The colors, character design, set and setting are all there and look awesome on the mobile-first design.

When connecting matched bingo symbols our multipliers grew large and our cash out was healthy. Overall, the game looked great and was fun to play.

But in all honesty, it fell off pretty quick. Even though the bingo mechanic added another layer to the game and the animations and graphics popped off the screen, for some reason the interest fell away about as quick as it arrived. Which is odd, because this game does cross boundaries we haven't seen before with this bingo / mines blend.

We think it might be the small max win, or maybe the limited 4x4 grid size. Or maybe it became a bit predictable after 50 to 100 rounds. It's a bit hard to say. Despite all the good things that bring this game to life, there really is something that just didn't hook us the same way a classed 5x5 grid with full customizable mine count does.
