The aim of Aztec Tower is to climb your way up ten rows of five stone tiles by predicting the location of hidden gems. Each row unlocks a bigger prize which must be cashed out to collect. Collecting your prize ends the round, sending you to the tower bottom to start a new round. But be careful as hidden bombs under the tiles will trigger if you reveal them, resulting in a lost round. Here’s a more in depth guide to play:
Step 1: Set your bet amount
Choose your bet value from $0.20 to $50. Change the size of your bet value by using the directional arrows either side of the bet value display, or select the bet value display directly to bring up the picker grid of all available bet values.
Step 2: Choose your difficulty
Aztec Tower has three difficulty modes to choose from. Each difficulty has the same ten rows of five tiles, but hides more bombs on each row the higher the difficulty. See the paytable below for each difficulty.
Step 3: Press play to begin
Press the big green play button to start the round of Aztec Tower. Select any of the five tiles on the first row to reveal what's hidden beneath.
- You find a gem – congratulations, you unlocked the first win multiplier for the first row.
- You trigger a bomb – unfortunately you lost the round. You need to place a new bet to try again.
When you reveal a gem you unlock the row above. Select again to try to find another gem, or collect your winnings to end the round and secure the prize.
The game follows this pattern for all 10 rows. If you are able to reach the final row and reveal a gem, you earn the max win for the difficulty chosen. If at any stage during the round you trigger a bomb, the round is lost.

The default theoretical Return to Player (RTP) is 96.14% and the maximum multiplier is ×9,155 when playing on Hard mode.
Below are the key game features of Aztec Tower by Platipus:
- Three Difficulty Modes: Play in Easy, Medium or Hard difficulty mode. The harder the difficulty, the greater the reward. However, the greater the reward, the higher probability of triggering a bomb. Prepare to lose more frequently when playing higher difficulties.
- Next Win Indicator: Check the value of the upcoming win multiplier next to the game grid. This helpful indicator shows you the win amount you are risking when making selections on new rows..
- Auto Play: Auto Play allows you to pre configure game parameters so the rounds play out consecutively without needing to interact with the controls. Set the number of rounds, game difficulty, bet value and cash out multiplier. You can even set triggers to stop the automation if your balance increases or decreases by a certain value.
- Bet History: View your historical bet information to validate previous results. Click or tap any result to open a more detailed view with higher level information stored by the provider.
Aztec Tower is developed on HTML5 and JavaScript, which means your game will run flawlessly on most modern mobile browsers. You don’t need to download anything, simply launch the game from your browser and start playing. Aztec Tower is designed to look great on both mobile and widescreen views.
Aztec Tower is the first of its kind from Platipus, and a pretty decent example of tower style mines games. If you are familiar with mines games, chances are you have played something like this before.
Platypus have kept it relatively simple for this release, with each of the three difficulties playing on the same tower configuration of ten rows of five tiles – the key difference being the number of bombs hidden under each row. We played all three difficulties a fair bit to judge the volatility between them and it seems pretty fair. Of course, playing on Hard difficulty you are going to lose a lot compared to easy, but the rate in which your win multiplier increases with each row is dramatically faster.
One thing we really wished was added to this game is Turbo or Fast mode. The animations are a bit slow, especially when you’ve lost 30 or 40 times in a row on Hard you really want to up the pace a bit. Unfortunately you can’t click past the reveal animation or increase the general animation speed. It’s possible this oversight may turn people away.
Outside of this, the animations do look great and the sound design compliments the game really well. Plus the three difficulties means anyone with any risk appetite can jump in and enjoy it.
