In Hotline Money you fight your way through a building of thugs and bosses by choosing either path A or B to engage each opponent. Defeating an opponent unlocks a bigger win multiplier, and requires the decision to cash out or fight on. There are 30 opponents in total across several rooms which get more difficult as you progress. Choose one of two difficulty modes, Easy or Hard, to adjust the game volatility. Below is a step-by-step guide of a Hotline Money round.
Step 1: Set your bet amount
Adjust your desired stake using the + and – buttons. The minimum bet size is $0.10 and the max bet size is $150. You can also type directly into the bet value field to adjust the value.
Step 2: Choose your difficulty mode
There are two difficulty modes in Hotline Money – Easy and Hard. Both modes have a total of 30 opponents to fight, but with a varying level of volatility. Easy mode has a higher win probability, but lower win increases for each opponent you defeat. Hard is the opposite, with a lower win probability but far greater win amount potential. The paytable for each mode is shown below.
Step 3: Place a bet and choose your path
Press the big yellow BET button to commit your bet and start the game. The interface changes to switch out the betting options and replace them with the small progress map preview, along with three action buttons – Withdraw, A and B.
The game page will show your character in a blue Hawaiian shirt, along with opponents. With each move, you now make a choice how to engage with the first of the two opponents on the page – path A or B. These paths are purely animation and don't affect the round outcome. Select one and watch the fight.
If you successfully defeat the opponent, you unlock the multiplier indicated below the opponent and can continue. If you die, the round and your bet is lost. You must start again.

Step 4: Cash out or fight on
Once the first opponent is defeated, the withdraw button activates and your total win is indicated on the button.
If you decide to cash out, the amount shown is immediately credited to your balance, the round ends, and you start back at the beginning ready for a new bet.
If you decide to continue, you choose either path A or B to engage with the new opponent.
The game will repeat this format until you make the decision to cash out, you are defeated by an opponent, or you defeat the final boss and save the girl, earning the max win for the difficulty mode you chose.
The default theoretical Return to Player (RTP) is 96.0% and the maximum multiplier is ×54,515. To unlock this max win, you must be playing on Hard difficulty mode.
Below is the key feature list for Hotline Money by 100HP Gaming.
- Difficulty Mode: Choose from two game difficulties, Easy or Hard. Play Easy for a low volatility, higher probability game with a smaller max win. Choose Hard for a high volatility, lower probability game with a larger max win.
- Choose Your Path: Select between path A or B when engaging an opponent. This has no impact on win probability, it's purely an added feature for fun.
- Revive: If you are knocked down fighting an opponent, there is a chance to revive, which will result in a win every time. Revive is completely random.
- Weapon Collect: Opponents can drop weapons, which you will pick up if they are dropped. Weapons are purely a fun animation, and have no impact on win probability.
- Progress Tracker: View the compact progress tracker above the betting controls, and expand it to view the full progress tracker. This tool shows all upcoming win multipliers and boss battle locations.
- Autobet: Use autobet to automate your gameplay. Choose which progress step to cash out, along with the number of rounds to automate and the bet value for your configuration.
- Provably Fair Checker: Validate the legitimacy of each and every round using the provably fair checker. This confirms that each round was predetermined, and was not influenced by external interference.
- Bet History and Leaderboard: Scroll down past the game screen to view your personal Hotline Money bet history and the top player wins leaderboard for daily, weekly and monthly timeframes.

Hotline Money is built on HTML5 and JavaScript, meaning your game will load and run flawlessly on most modern mobile browsers.
Hotline Money blends original Grand Theft Auto style vibes with top-down view retro pixel games, complete with boss fights and collectable weapons. This is a pretty unique game and quite unlike what we've seen before from 100HP Gaming.
Playing this game looks and feels like a step back in time, with iconic retro, pixel-style graphics and simple animation to suit. The gameplay is easy and uncomplicated and the game UI also styled in a similar old-school handheld console theme.
Hotline Money is full of little quirks which tie the whole experience together, such as the sound and soundtrack, pop up dialog from your player character and enemies, as well as random revive events when you get knocked down and collecting weapons your enemies drop. Entering boss rooms also transitions with a clean boss fight graphic to introduce the boss character.
Keep in mind that when we tested, we had a particularly bad run on Hard difficulty with many, many instant losses on the first bet. It was savage, but likely just bad luck on our end. In Easy mode we managed to get several nice wins compared to Hard. This game actually has a similar, if not the same engine as other 100HP Games we've played, and we didn't experience the same extreme loss run when playing Hard mode.
Also there are no loss limit controls in autoplay. This might not be important for everyone, but when autoplay is idle by nature we think this should be included as a safety net option for players who might accidentally leave it on or not be paying attention to the balance.
