The goal of Dota Hi-Lo is to predict the outcome of the 3 dice roll. Each round is revealed as a fight between iconic DOTA characters and the enemy, who once defeated turn into a standard 6 sided dice to reveal the final face-up value. By predicting the outcome of the dice roll of each defeated character you have a chance to win. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to play:

Step 1: Choose your playing room

There are 4 rooms, each catered to players of different bet size requirements.

• Casual - Min bet $0.50, max bet $10
• Novice - Min bet $1.00, max bet $20
• Expert - Min bet $2.00, max bet $50
• High Roller - Min bet $5.00, max bet $100

The room you choose has no influence on the outcome of the game or its RTP. This simply separates players based on bet size requirements.

Step 2: Set Your Bet Value

Once you enter the room, you can choose your bet amount using the casino chip icon at the bottom of the game page. By clicking on it, you can open up the bet range picker and select various bet values. These casino chips will be used to place onto the betting panel to select where you make predictions.

Step 3: Place your bets during betting phase

As Dota Hi-Lo is a “Live Rounds” style game, you will need to wait for any live round to finish before you can place bets on the next round. The betting phase lasts 20 seconds, which is the time you have to place your casino chips onto the betting panel for the predictions you want to make.

Understanding the paytable is crucial to being successful at Dota Hi-Lo. This game has comprehensive betting options and caters to many different combinations of bets. This is similar to Craps just with less possibilities. Below is a breakdown of the paytable as shown in the two images. The top image shows the betting panel and possible betting position. The bottom image shows the win multiplier for each of the positions.

• The green dots indicate positions that require the outcome to only favour 1 of the 3 dice to qualify.
• The blue dots indicate positions that require the outcome to favour at least 2 of the 3 dice to qualify.
• The red dots indicate positions that require the outcome to favour all 3 dice to qualify.

Straight up numbers in the center of the betting panel will stack their win multiplier of 1x for each dice that roll the winning number. For example you place a bet on face up value 4. If all 3 dice roll a face up value of 4, you win 3x your bet instead of 1x your bet.

Any roll where the collective total of all 3 equals 10 or below qualifies Low. Any roll where the collective total equals 11 qualifies HiLo. Any roll where the collective total equals 12 or more qualifies High.

Step 4: Understand Bonus Battles

It’s possible for any roll to swap to a bonus battle, which happens when the betting phase finishes and the round begins, the hero characters run towards the enemy, however instead of finding enemies they find a portal. When they enter the portal, they either find a Radiant dungeon or a Dire dungeon.

To qualify to be eligible for any winnings from the Bonus Battle, you must have placed a bet on either the Radiant or Dire positions on the betting panel. See the screenshot below which shows the applicable positions to qualify.

If the bonus teleports you to Radiant, then only players who have bets on Radiant positions can win. The opposite applies if teleported to Dire.

The outcome of the bonus round simply drops a multiplier value. There is no dice roll, just a multiplier win. The bonus win multipliers can range from 10x to 100x. This will multiply the value of your bet on any winnings positions in the Radiant or Dire betting panel.

• Room Selector – Chance the minimum and maximum bet value potential by swapping rooms. There are 4 rooms dedicated to players of all bet size needs - Casual, Novice, Expert and High Roller
• Bet History – Check your previous bets and the outcome in the Bet History panel. Here you can see a timestamp and overview of the round such as the stake amount, PNL and face up dice results.
• Lobby Leaderboard – The leaderboard showcases 2 segments of players and shows the top 3 for each segment. The segments are “Richest” which shows the players with the highest balance, and “Big Winners” which shows the players who have claimed the largest single win amounts from rounds.‍
• Mobile Optimised – Dota Hi-Lo is a mobile-first game, designed to be experienced from mobile devices.

Dota Hi-Lo is built on HTML5 and JavaScript, meaning your game will load and run flawlessly on most modern mobile browsers. No download required, simply launch the game from your browser and start playing. Dota Hi-Lo is actually a mobile-first design, where it's expected that the overwhelming majority of players will be on mobile devices. Players on desktop will still see the portrait orientation game page exactly the same as on mobile, but with a widescreen border to fit the desktop page.

Dota Hi-Lo is a very interesting game, combining elements of Craps, Sic Bo and of course the art style and world / character design of MOBA game Dota.

The sophistication of the betting options is quite impressive and allows us to create some very fine tuned strategies for a 3 dice roll outcome. However combined with the Bonus Battles the game becomes even more strategic. If we want to be eligible to qualify for the bonus round we must have bets on the Radiant or Dire positions, and it must match the destination of the bonus battle as well.

We found ourselves trying to predict not only what the upcoming dice roll might reveal, but also the probability of if the upcoming round might be a bonus round or not.

There are multiple layers of possible outcomes from this game, creating a very layered experience which while in concept is quite straight forward, but when playing leaves a lot open on the table to cater to your strategy.

Definitely a fun game to sit back and enjoy watching the rounds play out. It doesn't exactly have the most exciting max win (100x your bet), however the overall whole experience and sophistication of the betting possibilities do make up for it. The strategy is not in one massive win then walking away, it's about strategic bets over time based on probability and likelihood of outcome.
